FOOD PRODUCTION FACILITY, MEASHAM

Having outgrown their existing premises in South Derbyshire, A B Produce developed a new purpose built facility for their food processing business at Measham in North West Leicestershire.
The facility was developed on a gently sloping greenfield site. The development proposal sought to maximize the developable area necessitating significant bulk earthworks to create plateaus for buildings, parking areas, etc.
The facility included a twin span, steel portal framed building covering an area of 70,000 sq.ft., with internal two storey offices and first floor mezzanine areas covering an area of 10,000 sq.ft.
External works included service yards with loading docks, car parking, reinforced earth embankment and settlement lagoons, which formed part of their product effluent treatment facility.
Included in our role of Civil and Structural Engineering was the negotiation of approvals from the Environment Agency for produce effluent settlement lagoons and also surface water attenuation ponds within a feature lake.
Our brief included:
- Building Sub & Superstructure design
- External works and civils design including levels, estate roads, drainage and surface water attenuation ponds
- Design settlement lagoons for produce effluent
- Liaison with other consultants and the Environment Agency
