Heantun Housing Association are currently re-developing a former school site in central Bilston in West Midlands.
The scheme comprises a series of bungalows and stepped 3 storey flats arranged around a steeply sloping and landscaped amenity area.
The development site overlies abandoned underground coal workings and we encountered uncharted mine shafts during the early phase of site enabling works.
The development incorporates ‘Robust Details’, current Government directives relating to eco housing and ‘Modern Method Construction’.
Our brief included:
- Design & detail foul and surface water drainage system
- Performance specification on drilling and grouting up the abandoned mine workings and resolution of capping details for mineshafts
- Foundations design
- Superstructure design
- Performance specifications and co-ordination of specialist sub contractors design
